Music Boards, Communities And The Frustrations That Go With It

Why is it so hard to find a real acceptable internet platform for serious music artists, who are really considering a release of their material independently? I must say that although the internet makes it possible for everyone to present their music worldwide, it also has the disadvantage of one being overwhelmed by a lot of bull.

I have been checking out some communities/forums for musicians for a while and still none of these seem to be inviting. You can see a lot of postings from "wannabe" musicians who are desperately begging people to listen to their crap. The most represented genre in this case is rap, I wouldn't even dare say hip hop, cuz just because you drop a couple of rhymes on a 4-seconds-pitched-sample from a track, doesn't mean you're doin' hip hop.

The most favorite topic would be the gangsta topic, biatches, suck my dick and so on... it just gets too annoying. I understand that watching videos on MTV or MTV Cribs, inspires these teens, also non-teens, to dream and fantasize on being a gangsta pimp themselves, surrounded by a lot of huge shaking asses. But they don't realize that it's all just a marketing strategie. I wouldn't be surprised if 50 Cent's secret hobby would be knitting socks/pullovers when staying at his crib during his leisure time. Now do you think that would be marketable? No way right? So he gotta be a gangsta.

Another thing is when people are just too nice to each other that it already gets cheesy. It even gives the impression as if they all start licking each others balls/asses whatever...

An example comment: "You need to get a coach for your vocals, gotta improve your writing, the music is somewhat boring, the production is weak, you're too ugly...bla bla bla. But I see potential if you work on yourself..." WTF?! Why not just say you're completely talentless, forget your ambition. Get yourself a different hobby like gardening or folding napkins etc..

I know that there are rules to be followed when joining communities and being honest doesn't mean being rude. There are also such cases like haters giving negative critics, but then listening to their own music, it's totally crap. I mean c'mon! show that you're skillz are better if you got any or better use your surftime in improving yourself. And I despise people who comment on something they actually don't understand. Would you let a hardcore heavy metal freak critize a cheesy pop ballad or the other way around for example?

Of course there is enough space in the World Wide Web for everyone, but I wish someone would invent something like a filter. So that all of these people can spam each other as much as they want to and the others can discuss with each other productively and live happily ever after.
Let your art speak for itself...
